People relate white to proper language, a big vocabulary, pronounced words, and sometimes the lack of being able to fight. While, when people refer to black, it is almost as if they are referring to the exact polar opposite of my above description. Generally, people call me black, as I am an African American, and they ask me if I play basketball.

Sometimes, I don’t know what to say. I guess I can talk about the natural attraction between males and females. Almost all animals seems to need a significant other, or just a mate. To me, getting one looks strange in all species. Some animals have mating calls or mating signals. Humans find their mate in some of the most complicated ways. People find a partner, date them, marry, then die together. That’s what it is supposed to be, but I have friends that have divorced parents. My dad has been divorced twice, and my mom was never married. The strain that divorce has on a son or daughter is like a slow torture technique, that leaves a scar that may never heal. When I was younger, people always said that children need to understand that their parent’s divorce was not caused by them. Me and my friends talked about this theory/hypothesis, and we agreed that our parents divorce was not our fault. It wasn’t because we were told to believe that truth, it was because we heard arguements from our parents and somehow knew that our parents would divorce, it was just a waiting period. Having separated parents seems cool, when theres only one child between the two. Why? Because, the one child gets things baught for him/her, by both parents. Sometimes the parents feel guilty about the divorce, and buys things to fill in the gapeing hole that was left in the son/daughter. But how can you compare a dirt bike or limo, to having two parents that love each other and have not been divorced. Do animals have “divorce”? Maybe, eating the other. I am Christian, and I understand that divorce is wrong, according to the Bible. Why have I heard of Christian couples divorcing, if it’s against their very religion? My answer, is simple, yet sometimes misunderstood. I think that couples do not take the time to learn why they should be together. Also, they shouldn’t marry based on sex or only physical attraction. I believe that while a physical beauty exists, there is also a spiritual (souls) beauty. If people took the time they need to decide whether or not their current mate is the one they want to be with forever, the divorce rate would decrease. Having sex seems to be something that teens are pressured into at an early age. Whether it’s prom, peers, alcohol, or natural attraction. Those things can all be controlled by a little thing that a lot of people do not have enough of. I imply that self control can keep you from doing something you’ll regret doing, later down life’s “trail”. Anyone can lose their virginity, but no one can get it back, once it’s gone. A female on the news said she still wore a promise ring after having sex at a young age, because she believed that being a virgin was a state of mind. I haven’t found that definition yet.

Vir.gin – noun. a state of mind.

Humans have such flawed thinking. L.O…L.

The other day, I realized that older people have the ability to be great friends. I came to the conclusion that mature friends are usually better than young, and naive ones. Younger ones are sometimes funny, and equal out maturity with immaturity. That concept may be hard to understand. Example: Some of my friends felt uncomfortable with lending me video games. I thought about the reasons why. I thought about trust, was it a trust issue?, could it be that he did not trust that his games would return to his custody in the same condition, as when i borrowed it? The answer is no. I later let one of my friends borrow a new game, Modern Warfare 2 (just bought), and he let me borrow a game of his, as collateral, I suppose. When it came time for the individual games to be returned to their rightful owners, mine was slightly damaged. At that very moment, I had come to an important realization. I mistrusted him, because he returned the game in worse condition. That mistrust is what ruins relationships. I used to think that he would replace any game if he had broken it beyond use. He was a trustworthy friend, until that very incident, anomaly, extraordinary event. I asked him if he knew why the disc had that ring on the bottom of it, which seemed to be a disturbing laser scratch. He replied that he didn’t know why it happened. This caused me to to mistrust him even more. Things like money, property, or favors have the ability to destroy the strong and unique bonds. Whether they are between friends, family, or even companions. I realized his reasoning for not lending me any of his video games. It was because he didn’t want any of those things (money, property, favors) to come in the way of our friendship. This is one of the many advantages of having an older, and hopefully wiser, person as a friend.

“What am I thinking?” you may ask…truthfully, I am thinking about life, and human values.

I keep asking myself questions like: Why do humans (directed to older family members, parents, and grandparents) give value to memories and “special” events (i.e. graduation, birthdays, etc.)?

Even though the average person graduates from high school once, why do humans allow it to retain so much value.

Could it be the Law of Supply and Demand? Maybe…since there is only one high school graduation per person, making the value of it massive? I don’t know.

I don’t think that special events in life, like the ones listed above, should hold great amounts of value. Yes, I do think that they should retain some value, but it shouldn’t have so much value that it should change a close relationship in a major way.

E.g. Boy becomes close with friends’ grandparents, and tells them about an upcoming graduation. Boy decides that he doesn’t want to attend it, and consults friends’ grandparents about the decision. Grandparents tell boy that he should go in a “soft” tone. Boy, with his mind already made up, doesn’t attend the event. One out of two grandparents become aggravated at the fact that boy didn’t go to his own graduation. Meaning the grandparents could not show support for the boy. Their relationship starts to dissolve.

Of course, the boy is me. I have no grandparents, and my friends’ grandparents accepted me (almost completely) as another grandson. Even though my relationship with my friends grandpa is the same, me and my friends grandma do not get along sometimes. The reasoning, as I found out months later, was because I didn’t go to my high school graduation. I don’t think that she should have given my graduation so much value, but I do understand that she wanted to go and was unable to show her support in the way that she had initially planned.
